Encyclopedia

5-Amino-1MQ

5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule NNMT inhibitor rather than a true peptide, studied for its effects on NAD+ metabolism and fat storage. Research sits at the preclinical stage with cell and rodent data but no human trials, and it stays a research chemical with no FDA approval. Educational, not medical advice.

Regulatory statusNot FDA-approved.

Mechanism

A small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) -- NOT a peptide. By inhibiting NNMT it is thought to preserve nicotinamide for the NAD+ salvage pathway and reduce adipocyte lipid storage, increasing intracellular NAD+ and energy expenditure.

Half-life

Not well established in humans; pharmacokinetic data are limited. It is a small molecule, not a peptide.

Regulatory status

Not FDA-approved. No known completed NNMT-targeting human clinical trials. Sold as a research chemical / for laboratory use only.

Safety

Human safety data are essentially absent; effects, side effects, and long-term risks are uncharacterized in people. Treat all human-use claims as unsupported.

Evidence

Preclinical only -- in vitro and rodent studies; no published human clinical trials.
