BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide made of 15 amino acids, based on a partial sequence of a protein found in human gastric juice. In laboratory and animal research it has been studied for wound, tendon, and gut healing. Proposed mechanisms, characterized almost entirely in rodent and in-vitro models, include promoting new blood-vessel growth and influencing growth-factor signaling and connective-tissue repair. Those mechanisms have not been confirmed in controlled human studies.
In community use, BPC-157 is most associated with musculoskeletal recovery: tendon and ligament strains, joint discomfort, and post-injury or post-surgery healing. Some also report gut-related use.
