A chimeric peptide combining residues ~12-26 of the p53 HDM-2-binding domain with a membrane-residency/penetrating leader sequence. It is proposed to bind HDM-2 displayed in the plasma membrane of cancer cells (but reportedly not normal cells), forming transmembrane pores that cause membranolysis/necrosis selectively in cancer cells.
