Somatropin

Somatropin is recombinant human growth hormone, a 191-amino-acid protein identical to the growth hormone made by the pituitary. It binds the GH receptor to raise IGF-1 and drive linear growth, protein building, and fat breakdown, while shifting glucose and insulin handling. Mechanism

Recombinant 191-amino-acid human growth hormone identical to pituitary GH. Binds the GH receptor to stimulate hepatic and peripheral IGF-1 production, driving linear growth, protein anabolism, lipolysis, and altered glucose/insulin handling.

Half-life

Roughly 2-4 hours after subcutaneous injection (circulating GH); biological effect outlasts this via IGF-1. Commonly reported use/dosing: FDA-approved for specific indications (pediatric GH deficiency, Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi, SGA, chronic renal insufficiency, adult GH deficiency, short-bowel syndrome, HIV wasting). Reported as daily subcutaneous injection with dose individualized by weight/IGF-1; non-approved 'anti-aging'/bodybuilding use is off-label and not endorsed.
